Ping'an village & Ping'an terraces
The Ping'an Terraced Fields are located in the Longji Terraced Fields Scenic Area in Longsheng County, which is 100 kilometers north-west of Guilin City. Longji Terraced Fields consist of three main villages – Jinkeng Red Yao Village, Ping'an Zhuang Village and Longji Ancient Zhuang Village. When talking about Longji Terraced Fields, it is generally considered to be Ping'an Terraced Fields, the core tourist area of Longji Terraced Fields.
The altitude of the Ping'an Terraced Fields is from 300 meters up to 1,100 meters above the sea level. This area was first cultivated in the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368) and finished in the early Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) with a history of more than 650 years. Every tourist to the Ping'an Terraced Fields will marvel at how spectacular the scenery is and what hard work the local people have been doing down in the fields.

Dazhai village
Dazhai village is a large, natural village with 2200 residents, most of whom are Yao minorities. The village has three large families, the Pan, the Yu, and the Huang, who presumably moved from Shandong 600 years ago. Around Dazhai village sits another three relatively small villages. Residents all live in wooden buildings with at least two floors.
The Dazhai Village Terraced Fields include Dazhai Village, Xiaozhai Village, Tiantou Village, Xinzhai Village, Zhuangjie Village, and Xiabu Village.Tiantou Village is the main tourist center with many hotels and guesthouses located nearby.
Huangluo Yao Village
Huangluo Yao Village is located on the Longji Scenic Area. It is one of the thirteen Yao ethnic villages in Longji. The ethnic group that living here are all the red Yao ethnic people. A custom of red Yao ethnic is that all females should keep a long hair. Among the 60 families, the longest hair can reach to 1.9 meters, while others also have more than 1-meter-long hair. So Huangluo Yao Village is reputed as the first long hair village in the world.
Single girls' hair can not be seen by others. They usually cover a blue scarf on the head so that people could not see it. The man who is the first one to see her hair will be his husband. And he only can see her beautiful hair on the wedding day. If you see the girl's hair carelessly, you have to stay there for 3 years as a son-in-law of the girl’s family.

The bamboos are cut into sections of around 35 cm, and put into stream-soaked glutinous rice, together with wind-dry meat, peanuts, sour bamboo shoots and some other ingredients filled from a small hole. The hole is sealed with sweet potatoes and then the bamboo section is burned on small fire. After 30 to 40 minutes, the rice is ready with faint fragrance of bamboo.

Rice Wine
It is a kind of sweet wine made from glutinous rice brewed with a very pristine way. Nearly every household in ethnic villages make rice wine. Fermented glutinous rice is put into the wooden basket, and then braised on fire. The wine will stream down from the bamboo inserted in the middle of the wooden basket. When the pot is filled with the white-color wine, you can smell the dense aroma of the wine. The water for brewing the wine is drawn from the streams outside of the village, so the wine combines the gentleness of water and the fragrance of flower. It can also drive away the cold and dampness in the human body.

Luo han guo
Fructus momordicae, called Luohanguo in Chinese, is primarily grown in southern China's Guangxi Province, with the majority coming from the mountains of Longsheng. In China, traditional Chinese doctors have used Luohanguo as an expectorant, to fight heat stroke, acute or chronic throat inflammation, aphonia, and chronic cough for centuries.
The sweet compounds from Luohanguo is about 250 times sweeter than cane sugar and is extremely low in calories, so that it is a good natural sweetener for patients who suffer from diseases that forbidden ingesting sugar, such as diabetes, adiposity, high blood pressure, and cardiopathy.
It has been reported that the residents who live near in Yongfu and Lingui Counties (of Guilin), are recognized as having an unusually high number of residents living to an age 100 years or more. Some people attribute this to the consumption of Luohanguo.
The dried fruit may be bought in almost all the Guilin markets. The outer surface of the dried fruit is round and smooth, dusty yellow-brown or dusty green-brown. It is covered with fine, soft hair. The fruit is covered by a hard but thin skin. The entire fruit, including the seeds, have a nice sweet flavor. Luohanguo is best steeped in tea.
